An important step towards reaching an ambitious climate- and environment protection goal is the progressive hybridization of powertrain concepts. Especially the potential Diesel motor powertrains have not yet been exhausted. Innovations in the area of digitalization and electrification, such as the hybridization and Car-2-X-technologies, cannot or only insufficiently be introduced in this combination. A high potential for sustainable environmental relief and CO2 reduction stays unused.
To strengthen the competitiveness of NRW the participating partners of the submitted project set the goal to research a new developmental method, which enables a cost-efficient introduction of optimized powertrain technologies in the context of digital and networked mobility. Additionally, real-time capable, scalable, and exact models of the powertrain components shall be created. Then they are arbitrarily combined with different hardware components to be linked simultaneously and in real time. This networked system development of the virtual vehicle environment allows for a parallelization and digitalization of the development process involving the whole system including environmental information and vehicle operation strategy.
