Fuel cell and hydrogen technologies

Fuel cell propulsion systems enable locally emission-free mobility with high comfort. The high energy and power density, on the one hand, and the relatively short refueling durations, on the other hand, make fuel cell vehicles particularly in the commercial sector very attractive. At the Center for Mobile Propulsion, in short CMP, fuel cells are analyzed and developed experimentally and by using simulations on system-, stack- and cell level.

Electrified Powertrains

The mobility needs as well as the possibilities to be mobile were probably never as big as today. Mobility scenarios must be continuously researched in order to select the best and most economical propulsion technologies for passenger and freight transport in urban areas and over long distances.

Virtual network and co-simulation

An important step toward reaching ambitious climate- and environment protection goals is the continuous improvement of the innovative virtual system development – “frontloading” – for conventional and electrified powertrains. Future mobility requires complex test scenarios with interconnected, electrified and automated vehicles.
